Mission The mission of the BMS Library Media Center is to provide a warm and caring instructional environment for students and to collaborate with teachers to further knowledge through reading and learning and applying research skills that students will need to become life-long learners.
Hours of Operation* The library media center is open from 7:00am until 2:45pm each weekday, allowing students and faculty time before and after school hours to visit the facility. *These hours are subject to change without notice.
Collection The collection is used to support instruction and provide recreational reading for both staff and students. The collection contains books, magazines, videos, DVDs, and CDs, and playaways.
Scheduling Flexible scheduling is used in the media center. Entire classes, small groups, and individuals may schedule with library staff to use the media center on an as-needed basis. A pass signed by a teacher is required for an individual student to use the media center before school, during classes and during lunch.
Circulation Students are required to have their ID or temporary ID with them in order to check out. The loan period is two weeks for students. Overdue fines are charged at the rate of five cents per day. We do not charge fines on weekends or holidays when we are not in school. Students may renew a book one time if no one else has requested to borrow the same book. Students may have up to three items checked out at one time. Students are responsible for paying replacement costs for library items that are lost or damaged. Students are not allowed to keep damaged books once replacement costs are paid. The damaged books belong to the school. Overdue and fine notices will be sent out via email. Students with excessive overdue fees and/or lost books will need to clear these fees to continue to check out materials from the media center. Please contact media specialist Mrs. Swetnam if you have any questions.
